‘Gordon Ramsay Dash’ Just Hit the App Store, You F@#$ing Donkey

TouchArcade Rating:

Glu’s Cooking Dash (Free) and similar Dash games have been incredibly popular over the years. If you haven’t played one yet, gameplay is a mix between time management and a memory game where you need to recall the steps needed to fill orders. For instance, you might have a customer order a burger which involves grabbing some beef, cooking it on a grill, putting it on a bun, potentially adding toppings, and maybe even stopping at the soda fountain for a drink before filling your customer’s order, collecting some money, and continuing on with the rest of the orders coming in to your restaurant. Your character can only carry two things at once (since you’ve only got two hands), and each step might have its own individual timer, so doing well involves knowing what order to do things when, what things require your attention immediately, and what order to queue up the rest of your actions. These games might initially appear to be supremely casual and boring, but once they open up, things can get crazy for the most experienced gamer.

Well, Glu just combined this gameplay with the supremely sensical celebrity mashup of Cooking Dash and Gordon Ramsay which resulted in the just-released Gordon Ramsay Dash (Free). It plays just like these other plate spinning games, but the main difference is the inclusion of Gordon Ramsay, complete with loads of voice over work, and the theme of the game surrounds building up your own TV show restaurants. The mashup is predictable, but it works quite well.

If there’s one thing to be disappointed by in this game, it’s that Gordon’s insults are super tame compared to his usual demeanor on TV. You have to totally do nothing and completely fail a level to even have him slightly annoyed with you which… Feels weirdly out of place? I would’ve liked Chef Ramsay to just be throwing hardcore insults at me the entire time I’m playing instead of just tossing soft balls my way once in a while, but, admittedly, it’s hard to say if that’s what the primary audience of the Dash series is also into. (I’m guessing they’re not.) If for some weird reason you have no idea what I’m talking about, this is the kind of Gordon Ramsay I was looking for (NSFW language):

Maybe hardcore angry Gordon could be an IAP unlock? Hell, I’d pay for it.

Anyway, like the rest of the Dash games, there’s a never-ending rabbit hole of depth to be found here if the game grabs you including upgrading literally everything, new recipes everywhere, and a surprisingly elaborate passive income system between your various restaurants you’re operating. Give it a look if you’re a Ramsay fan, or you’ve never played one of the Dash games before, you might like them more than you’d expect. …Even if it’s weirdly disappointing that you’re not just getting relentlessly reamed by Gordon.
