‘Alto’s Adventure’ Update With Zen Mode and Photo Tool Coming Tomorrow

TouchArcade Rating:

When it initially launched in early 2015, Alto’s Adventure ($4.99) proved to be the antithesis to the adrenaline-pumping auto runner games such as Canabalt ($2.99) that were so prominent in the early years of the App Store. With an atmospheric backdrop and soothing piano music you were free to descend the mountain on your skis at your pleasure, until the occasional pesky rock or gaping abyss brought your run to a sudden halt.

Thankfully for anyone just wanting to soak in the ambient soundscape, the game’s developer Snowman is releasing an update tomorrow with a ‘zen mode’ which, instead of forcing you to restart when you make an error, just allows you to continue your journey in peace. This new mode coupled with an even more relaxing soundtrack will mean anyone who just wants to kick back, relax and lose half a day to the joys of the slopes can do so with ease. While it removes all of the difficulty and scores of the core game, it could also prove a great practice piste for beginners.

This zen mode is also accompanied by a new feature that allows you to pause the game and take pictures of the game mid-run, and zoom and pan the camera around to truly get that epic shot. A game as beautiful as Alto’s Adventure deserves the best photo features, and this tool allows you to do so to capture that somersault mid-spin to show off to all your friends. Other features such as Polish, Arabic and Turkish language support are also bundled into this free update, so be sure to keep checking our forums and don’t give this game the cold shoulder.
