A few years back, a super quirky game called All Glory to the Pixel King! (Free) was released in the App Store from developer Steve O’Gorman. It was a super lo-fi and blocky game where you’d build a 2D fortress to surround and protect your king by filling it with all manner of soldiers and weaponry. Then, the game would pull down some other persons’ fortress from the magic known as The Internet and you’d duke it out fortress vs. fortress turn-based strategy-style. It was a really clever game that didn’t hit critical mass but definitely found a nice niche of players. Well, Mr. O’Gorman has been hard at work completely re-writing the game from the ground up and adding in some neat new features for what he’s calling All Glory to the Pixel King! 2nd Edition.
In addition to being completely rebuilt for all iOS devices, All Glory to the Pixel King! 2nd Edition will include these new features, as laid out in our forums: Classic class based units return, augmented with granular customisation inspired by Pixel Dynasty (Free); Further tweak your difficulty for greater rewards, with new permadeath and permadamage options; Powered by iCloud. The only bummer part is that because the game is so heavily rewritten, it won’t be released as an update to the existing game, and will be a completely new app instead. As such the existing game will only stick around until the end of the year and will be completely phased out in January. Hey, I’m all for sacrifice in the name of progress! Look for All Glory to the Pixel King! 2nd Edition this Thursday, and if you’re impatient, grab the original release for free right now to see what you’ll be in for.
