A couple of weeks back our resident clicker lover Carter Dotson posted the trailer for Final Meteor, a clicker game that aims to bring a similar satisfaction as classic 16-bit JRPGs but in clicker form. The art style in Final Meteor was definitely on point and it seemed like it would be another great entry in the emerging idle gaming genre on mobile. Developer ClapClap Media has reached out to let us know that Final Meteor will be launching this Thurday, May 5th. Here is the launch trailer again if you missed it before.
Now, what’s interesting about all this is that Final Meteor is not the only game that ClapClap is launching this month. They’ve also sent along some information about a “twin game" to Final Meteor that’s called Final Friday. Their idea behind Final Friday was to have a clicker game structured almost identically to Final Meteor but with a theme that would be as far from fantasy JRPG as possible. They decided that horror/Halloween theme would fit the bill nicely. Check out the launch trailer for Final Friday.
As you can see, Final Friday utilizes the same wonderful pixel art as its JRPG counterpart, and I’m never opposed to a cool horror theme. With Final Meteor launching this Thursday, ClapClap isn’t waiting around to push out Final Friday and that one’s on deck to launch next Thursday, May 12th. Their hope is that players will be able to choose the game with the theme that suits them the most, or perhaps will simply play both. Hey, why not? It’s a pretty cool strategy releasing two game the way ClapClap is, and I’ll be looking forward to clicking my days away with Final Meteor this Thursday and Final Friday next Thursday.
