Back at E3 last year, Bethesda announced their collectable card game, The Elder Scrolls: Legends. Speculation ran wild about when the game would be coming, as well as how it would be played. “When" is still super ambiguous, as Bethesda has mentioned that it’ll be a surprise release with another tiny tease that they’re getting closer. Today they revealed the following gameplay video, which briefly details the “how," showing a bit of the basic core concept, with further information in a followup blog post:
Of particular interest from the blog post is how it’s a card game with statistics like agility, strength, etc, and much like playing actual Elder Scrolls games, these stats determine how you’ll approach battles. It’s a fascinating concept, and seems really cool to explore. They’re kicking off a beta soon, which you can sign up for here. It’s hard to say how long that beta will run, but for the sake of comparison, Hearthstone went into closed beta in August of 2013, open beta in late January of 2014, and then was finally released in early March, with it not hitting the iPad until April.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see The Elder Scrolls: Legends follow a similar release curve, but we’ll just have to wait and see. With E3 approaching, and a beta looming, it seems very reasonable to assume that the game will be at the event. So, fingers crossed for a closer look by then.
