Man, how about that Limbo, eh? While certainly not the first silhouette-styled game, it feels like it was the one that sparked off the trend of games using that artistic style after its release in 2010. On mobile this art style is probably most well-known from the Badland series, which looked very similar to Limbo but played very differently. Well now we have a game from lone Finnish developer Mert Fidan that’s almost like a mashup of those two games. It’s called Unia: And The Burned Village, and it’s a puzzle platformer like Limbo, so not a cave flyer like Badland, BUT its main characters look an awful lot like those weird fuzzy blobs from Badland. Anyway, Unia centers around its 3 playable main characters, each of which have unique abilities that you’ll need to utilize in order to progress.
Unia looks great based on that trailer, and if it can capture even just a fraction of what made Limbo so great I think we’ll be in for a good time. No word on pricing just yet, but we do know that Unia will be launching this Friday, April 15th. So celebrate giving all your money to the US government by buying yourself a new game! Until then, you can check out the forum thread for Unia for some discussion on the game.
