Blocky Pixel is bringing its take on endless, Crossy Road (Free) inspired shoot ’em ups to the App Store next week on April 14th with Astro Attack. While Shooty Skies (Free) does exist, this game aims a bit more for being like Space Invaders, with formations of enemis that move back and forth while swiftly descending on top of you. You must keep blasting them, picking up powerups to help keep the enemy hordes from overwhelming you, or from just shooting your ship into tiny pieces.
The game is quite fun, and it works well as a one-handed portrait game as well, though it could use a bit of greater than one-to-one offset for the iPhone Plus screens, though at least you never have to worry about your finger blocking anything. And of course, you’ll have a ton of ships to unlock with your coins that you collect while playing. It’s a familiar but fun formula, and it’s worth a download next week when it releases.
