While Pokemon Go from Niantic is set to hit sometime this year, it looks like another Pokemon game is set to hit mobile in Japan: Pokemon Comasters. With the help of our own Shaun Musgrave, what we’ve sussed out about this is that it’s a game being developed by HEROZ, where you’ll take part in battles against online or AI opponents. Their specialty appears to be in that field of offering AI opponents along with online matches in games like Chess HEROZ (Free) so they might be a good fit for this one.
This one is set to hit this spring at least in Japan. Worldwide release wouldn’t be unexpected, but never a guarantee with a game initially released in Japan. Do note that this is separate from Nintendo’s planned game releases, as The Pokemon Company is separate from Nintendo proper despite their close relationship and console/handheld exlusivity on Nintendo systems. Whatever this game will be – and it sure looks like there’s a board game influence with figures battling it out – this will be worth keeping an eye out for.
