I feel like this is exactly what the world needs: Dream Theater is getting a digital board game based off of their latest album The Astonishing. It’s being made by Turbo Tape Games, the developers of Warhammer: Arcane Magic ($1.99) and UHR-Warlords ($3.99). While many metal albums would make for interesting board game concepts, Dream Theater is providing Turbo Tape with a ton of material. I mean, The Astonishing is a double album that’s also a rock opera about a rebel militia using the power of music to revolt against the Great Northern Empire of the Americas. If that doesn’t sound like something that could be mined into a “board-based tactical strategy game," I don’t know what does.
Dream Theater: The Astonishing Game is in development right now, and will be available soon for iOS and Android as a free download with additional content available as in-app purchases. You’ll be able to play this solo, pass-and-play local multiplayer, and online. I’m certainly intrigued at whatever this winds up playing like!
