DotEmu has just dropped a port of legendary sci-fi writer Harlan Ellison’s I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream ($3.99) onto the App Store today. This is a point-and-click adventure that is based on the short story of the same name, as you play as five different people trapped by the evil AI named AM, dealing with their own personal hells. There are multiple endings, and the best ending can only be had by acting in the most moral way possible.
This game was originally released on PC in 1995, and boasts quite a pedigree to it. Harlan Ellison himself played a major role in the game and adapting the story for the game, as well as playing the voice of AM, along with over 40 other roles voiced in the game. The soundtrack is by John Ottman, most known for his later work with Bryan Singer, including the X-Men movies Singer directed. It’s quite the fascinating game, and an interesting piece of gaming history that might just be worth checking out to this day.
