One of the best RPGs on the App Store is Redshift’s The Quest ($4.99), a massive adventure with more than a dozen expansion packs. The game was ported to the iPhone in 2009, and up until a couple of years ago, it received a new expansion every six months or so courtesy of developer Zarista Games. The last one, Elemental Asteroids ($2.99), came out in January of 2014, after which Zarista began working on their own RPGs independent of The Quest. With Redshift hard at work on PC and iPad versions of the original game, the long-awaited sequel to The Quest seems pretty far away right now. What’s an adventurer to do to satisfy their urges in the meantime?
Well, although Zarista had previously stated that Elemental Asteroids was going to be their last expansion for the original game, it seems that they have reconsidered. Cursed Stone, their latest expansion for The Quest, will be arriving either by the end of this year or in January of next year, and if things go well, it may not even be their last contribution to this massive RPG. Cursed Stone is said to take place on an island, tasking you with removing a curse by avenging the deaths of some innocents. Well, as long as I get to stab monsters, I’m good with whatever story you’ve got.
If Cursed Stone follows the usual pattern for Zarista expansions, it’ll cost around $2.99 and offer at least a couple dozen hours of content to play through, but that’s pure speculation on my part, so don’t go after Zarista or Redshift if those particulars don’t turn out to be true. In any case, I’m happy to see more content coming for The Quest, even if there’s already more in the game than most people will ever need. I’ll probably review the new expansion whenever it comes out, so keep your eyes peeled, friends!
