The original Aralon: Sword and Shadow (Free) was a defining game for the young iOS platform when it released back in December of 2010 (Wow has it really been that long?). Now, almost 5 years later exactly, the follow-up Aralon: Forge and Flame is finally nearing completion. Crescent Moon Games has sent word that the new Aralon will be submitted to Apple this week, and they’re looking to have it out sometime in December. There’s also a brand new teaser trailer.
As you would expect from a sequel, Aralon: Forge and Flame features a bigger, more detailed world than its predecessor. The last time we got to see it in action was back during GDC in March, and it looked really impressive but definitely still had a ways to go. I’m very interested to see the progress that’s been made since then. I’ve always loved Crescent Moon’s RPGs for what they are: Big, open-world experiences created by a ridiculously small team. They’re little marvels, but they’re also never quite perfect. Perhaps my biggest criticism is that their worlds look wonderful but never truly feel “alive", so I hope that will change with Aralon: Forge and Flame.
Whatever the case, RPG fans are sure to be in for hours upon hours of entertainment when it releases. We’ll let you know when a more specific release date is set, but in the meantime head into the game’s forum thread for some discussion and look for Aralon: Forge and Flame at some point next month.
