You may recognize the name Grapefrukt from their 2013 critically acclaimed minimalist real-time strategy game Rymdkapsel ($3.99), or maybe you’re just Swedish and recognize your native spelling of grapefruit. Whatever the case, you should be jumping out of your seat in excitement as Grapefrukt (the developer, not the fruit) has just announced a new game called Twofold Inc. If you were a fan of the minimalist visuals but deep strategy of Rymdkapsel it sounds like you’re in for a treat with Twofold Inc.
I’m still not totally sure on the specific mechanics behind Twofold Inc., but it looks very intriguing all the same. It reminds me of one of my all-time favorite, I’d-do-anything-for-the-developers-to-come-back-and-update-it iOS games ever, Async Corp. ($0.99), which was all about managing the space on the game board in order to group like-colored squares together so you could remove them in batches. It looks like there might be some similar things happening in Twofold Inc. Luckily we won’t have to wait too long to find out, as Twofold Inc. is slated for release in January of next year.
