Borderleap, creators of the har-mo-ny ($0.99) series of games, which included this year’s har-mo-ny 3 ($2.99), are at work on another game after the re-release of Blendamaze ($0.99) this year. Word^2 is the game, and it involves forming word squares, where you have a square full of letters. Words must be identical horizontally and vertically based on the pivot letter they share in the same row and column. For example, in the screenshots below, on the left you see “APPEAR" in the second row and column locked-in as solved. On the right, you see the solved puzzle, where the words in the first row and column match, second row and column, third row and column, and so on.
The game is plenty challenging, though you thankfully start off with 3×3 grids. Those are doable, though you have to deal with non-Scrabble words like acronyms. It’s only later that the game gets more challenging. The game boasts the typical colorful visuals and serene music that the har-mo-ny games are known for, too. Expect Word^2 in November for $1.99.
