It seems like every Wendesday now the comments of our various new games posts are filled with people wondering if we’re going to see an official, full NBA game this year. Well, the App Store just answered with the release of NBA 2K16 ($7.99) by 2K. The iTunes description mentions some weird limitations for various older iOS devices. For instance, the game straight up won’t run at all on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Meanwhile, it’ll run on the iPad mini 1, the iPad 3, and 5th generation iPod touch… You just won’t have sound? Strange.
Anyway, this should be a full NBA 2K experience, complete with earning Virtual Currency (I still can’t get over the fact that they haven’t come up with a more creative thing to call their in-game currency.) and playing through the MyCAREER mode. There’s improved graphics, new game modes, Euroleague teams, MFi controller support, and a bunch of other stuff.
A thread was just posted on our forums and first impressions are already rolling in. One forum member mentions the gameplay is improved, but the game is still technically glitchy with an irregular framerate on his iPhone 6. Keep your eyes peeled on that thread, as there has been a lot of interest in this game.
