It’s kind of crazy how quickly quadcopter drones went from super expensive gadgets sold at stores like Brookstone and Sharper Image to… drones that fit in the palm of your hand and sell for $69, as is the case with the Limited-Edition ‘Code Black’ HD-Camera Drone. It’s got 10 minutes of flight time and an onboard 720p camera which captures footage to a microSD card. It’s also tiny as hell, here it is next to the controller:
The video it captures is also surprisingly decent, here’s some sample video I found on YouTube of a dude flying the Code Black drone around a park:
As the drone market has expanded, it seems like there’s almost no limit to the top end of what you can spend on a drone to fly around. $69, on the other hand, for a drone that can take HD video is really cheap, and is the perfect sort of thing for either getting your feet wet in the drone world without spending too much money or just making some fun aerial videos.
