Way back in February, First Order Games announced their first project called Swipey Rogue. As you can tell by the title of this post, Swipey Rogue has many different influences, and surprisingly it all looked like it blended together really well in that early hands-on video from February. Your character moves automatically with you simply swiping to change directions and guide him through the danger-filled, puzzle-like rooms. There’s also elements of dungeon crawling and roguelikes, because why the heck not? Swipey Rogue caught my eye back then, and I’ve been waiting patiently for it to arrive. Today First Order has announced that Swipey Rogue is finished, made it through Apple approval with flying colors, and will be released next Thursday, August 27th. And here’s a new trailer!
Swipey Rogue will contain 200 hand-crafted Challenge Rooms in its campaign as well as a Free Running mode which will feature procedurally-generated rooms that task you to go for as long as you can. Along the way you’ll be able to level up your character, but once you die, that’s it and it’s back to the beginning for you and your character’s stats. There will also be High Score and Speed Run leaderboards as well as achievements to unlock. Best of all is the pay model for Swipey Rogue. The game is free with ads, and you pay what you want in order to disable them, anywhere from 99¢ to $4.99. There is no other IAP besides that. I’m pretty excited for this one, look for it on the App Store next week.
