Fireproof Games popped up briefly to inform us that if we’ve been expecting a summer release of The Room Three, we are out of luck. The developers talked about how they are still working hard at finishing the game and said that they are actually in pretty good shape at the moment. The game is playable from start to finish, and development time is dedicated to tweaking puzzles, writing hints, finishing up the audio, and polishing the (already gorgeous) art. Then, there’s some translating to be done, testing for and fixing any bugs, and then it will land on the App Store. The developers promised more regular updates from now on with screenshots and, at some point, a trailer.
To cure everyone’s sadness engendered from the delay, Fireproof Games gave us a sneak peek of an area it hadn’t shown us before, The Glasshouse. There’s an obvious, if subtle, improvement in the visuals of The Room Three from the already-gorgeous The Room Two, with more detail in the environments and, I think, better lighting effects. There’s little doubt that The Room Three will continue Fireproof Games’ tradition of delivering very polished, intriguing games set in a wonderfully-spooky but beautiful setting. So, while you wait for this game to release, enjoy the images and, maybe, try to figure out what the puzzles might be.
