The Fantastic ‘Thomas Was Alone’ is Down to $1.99, Has Spawned Blocky Action Figures

TouchArcade Rating:

If you enjoy games that tell lovely stories and you haven’t played Mike Blithell’s Thomas Was Alone ($4.99), well, why? Good news for you, though, the game has dropped to $1.99, its lowest price ever. This puzzle-platformer has traveled from platform to platform (PC, Consoles, Mobile) and has won many awards and players’ hearts along the way. We loved it in our review and noted how the port plays great. Thomas and his four blocky friends (and I mean blocky literally) really feel human as they have actual personalities that come through both in the story and gameplay. The narration that accompanies your platforming (narrated by the great Danny Wallace) enhances the heroes’ personalities, making a game about blocks and bars feel much more “real" than many games with amazing graphics.

Thomas was alone

In case you think I’m exaggerating about how human the little blocky characters feel, Blithell actually made “action figures" out of them because, as he told PCGamer, many have asked for them repeatedly. Just the fact that most people don’t find this move crazy (they look just like any other toy block) should tell you the connection players had with the game’s four characters. The figures look lovely and carry the signature of Kerry Dyer (the sculptor) and Mike Blithell (the game’s creator). They cost 20 pounds ($31), and you can order them here if you so desire. So, whether you just want an amazing game at a great price or want to have little blocky guys and a gal on your desk, here’s your opportunity.

      Awesome deal.

      Are These Worth IT? :)

Not really. You can get caps for finishing a room production as a bonus (make sure your minions have high luck) or from selling loot you find.
And you can also get the boxes from completing objectives. They aren't too hard anyway.
        Collect x of food/water/energy
Kill x creatures in the wastelands
Get x dwellers pregnant (breeding station anyone?)
        Etc

Based on the screen grabs, no! They display both the same costs for same number of lunch boxes.

There is one good item in each. You don't need the caps, food, etc... Besides once you get to 100 people you'll unlock all the rooms and then it's over. Nothing changes after this... Raider attacks are the same, same loot gets returned from exploring, etc... Hopefully more stuff can be added to the core game.

Agreed. There needs to be sometime more than just grow. I'm only keeping it installed with hopes they might add something fun but I doubt it.

You should buy a few boxes only if you want to show Bethesda some gratitude and encourage them to add more content. Because having too many golden items (weapons, outfits) or high specs dwellers early on makes the game way too easy and boring. You'll be glad having one or two very good weapons and a great dude from the few boxes you'll get from the missions, but having a dozen of each just kills the game imho.
I'm also waiting hopefully for an update to fix the multiple crashes once your vault gets too big for your Idevice memory (around 150 for my iPad Air).

I'm not seeing the sale referred to in the post. All the discounts shown (60%, 66%, and 75%) are all off of the single unit price of $1 per lunchbox.

I.e. - 5 lunchboxes at $4.99 - 66% = $1.99. Does that mean that the half off sale now make the 5 Lunchbox IAP only $.99?

It shows the pice of $1.99 when I went to buy it.

        I also see this.

Just a cash grab before the game finally dies.

I want to disagree with you but you speak the truth and that's kinda sad. 😩

I see the other image with the 50% for the 40 bundle now.

Wow!! Those are some very high prices in the US market! It shows we are charged straight up $1 per lunch box no matter how many you buy at once. There is normally a built in discount for bulk in these types of IAP without there being a sale, but the sale prices don't reflect that.

What makes buying lunch boxes less attractive is the fact that I had too many 500 cap rewards as "top" card prize. Only got two residents with good stats and some good weapons. Not really worth real money.

I think luchboxes are good for legendary dweller ain't gon get that easily, as of legendary weapons explorer sometimes get that.
