It feels like Folmer Kelly, co-developer on Wrassling (Free) and maker of rad high-score games like #SUPERHYPER ($1.99) as part of Sets and Settings, is pumping out a new game every month. Which is good, because hey, I’ve advocated for devs to make a bunch of smaller games long before Flappy Bird was even a thing. But hey, he’s cranking them out, and his latest game is TrapTower, releasing on June 18th for free.
This has you ascending a castle, bouncing from wall to wall, collecting coins and dodging spikes, buzzsaws, and lasers. You know, a normal day for a giant eyeball. There are several different eyeballs to play as, but there’s a number of “cuties" to unlock that aren’t eyeballs. I’m hoping there’s at least one indie game cameo in there – games making references to other games is one of my favorite things. Sets & Settings’ Trestle, long-dormant but allegedly coming back, was going to have cameos, but were removed at one point. I am pro-cameo. Make it happen, Sets and Settings!
But with TrapTower, it’s a neat little game in a familiar genre, with a rad art style, with colors that appear a bit muted but still vibrant. This one’s been in the works for a while, and it’ll finally be public this week. It’ll be free with a $1.99 IAP to remove ads.
