‘First Strike’ Developers Announce Upcoming Roguelike, ‘Cloud Chasers’

TouchArcade Rating:

Blindflug Studios made the interesting strategy game First Strike ($7.99), which touched on nuclear war and global politics, and they’re back with another game that hopes to take some real-world themes and put them into an fascinating game experience. Meet Cloud Chasers, a roguelike inspired by immigration. You control Francisco and Amelia, who are trying to make it through five different deserts full of different hazards that pop up. You have to make it from cloud field to cloud field, as that’s your only way to collect water, using Amelia’s glider to collect them. However, Cloud Harvesters are also searching them out in order to transport to the world in the sky.

It sounds like a really interesting game, with the roguelike elements in particular giving the game some variety and replayability. They’re still working on the game and don’t have a release date or even a guaranteed set of platforms, but mobile will definitely be part of the launch. Keep an eye out for this one.

      1. Kauach

Nope - it's not from 11 Bit Studios. It's just a side project of some of the developers working there.

With "there do appear to be alternate control options if gyroscopic controls aren't preferable" and "It will be possible to enjoy the worlds without needing to do anything" I was sold. This looks great, and while watching the video, my first thought was "if they allow you to just fly around without goals..."
