In what will be surprising news to anyone who’s played the emotionally-charged Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, its publisher, 505 Games, has announced today that the re-release edition of the game will also be coming to iOS and Android at some point during the holiday season. The re-release will feature a director’s commentary, the soundtrack, and a concept art gallery. In case you haven’t heard of Brothers, the game struck a chord with many critics and players when it was released in 2013 because of its great emotional highs and lows, its beautiful Nordic-inspired environments, and its innovative gameplay where you control both brothers simultaneously.
In the console version, you controlled each brother with each analog stick of the controller, a control system that was praised for its innovation but also criticized for its execution. As we’ll have to control the two brothers using the touchscreen rather than a controller, I feel some trepidation as to how the game will actually play. Still, I don’t think the developers would port a broken game, so I’m hopeful we’ll be able to enjoy guiding the two brothers on their journey without having to fight with the controls. We don’t have a firm release date yet, but I’m excited to see another fantastic game make its way to mobile.
