Umbrella is responsible for one of my favorite fast-reaction games with Boom Dots (Free), and their next game is looking like Q-Bert meets Crossy Road (Free): Down the Mountain. You’ll be hoping a cubic creature down isometric levels, hopping diagonally from block to block, trying to stay alive and not get blown up, or spiked to death, or falling off the edge of the world. You know, common problems for the modern-day traveler.
There will be a number of characters to unlock, Crossy Road-style, with over 60 that will be available. There’s animals, pop culture references, and Umbrella is promising a Touch Arcade-related surprise. Hmm. I’m not being cute, I have no idea what it is either. You can unlock characters by completing Boom Dots-esque missions, opening mystery boxes, and spinning the prize wheel every couple of hours. While endless Q-Bert isn’t necessarily new – the nice folks at Frosty Pop Corps just released Dribble Madness (Free) – I like the Crossy Road element, and the missions system from Boom Dots was a great part of that game, so I look forward to what Umbrella has going here.
