It’s crazy to think that it’s been more than a year since Crescent Moon and Galoobeth Games announced Aralon: Forge and Flame, the follow-up to Aralon: Sword and Shadow (Free) the groundbreaking open-world RPG for mobile devices that originally launched in late 2010. Time flies, as they say, and Aralon: Forge and Flame has been progressing in the many months since its unveiling. We had a chance to check out the latest build of the game here at GDC, and it’s looking phenomenal.
You may remember that not too long ago the original Aralon received an update bringing it up to spec for modern devices. That update was a great excuse to revisit Aralon, which I hadn’t done for a number of years. Surprisingly the gameplay itself holds up incredibly well, but everything else feels woefully dated. With that experience fresh in my mind, it really hit home just how beautiful and advanced Aralon: Forge and Flame is looking, especially since it takes advantage of the fancy stuff in the new Unity 5. The video really doesn’t do it justice. I can’t wait for the finished product, which should be coming sometime later this year.
