Grappling Hook Puzzle-Platformer ‘Volt’ is $0.99 Right Now

TouchArcade Rating:

I have said it before and I will say it again: grappling hooks are my favorite game mechanic to play with. The feel of swinging to previously-unreachable places, and getting a good momentum going by swinging one rope after another is sublime and unmatched. The mechanic can be applied to a wide variety of games, from endless runners like Hook Worlds (Free) and a puzzle-platformer, like Volt: Battery on the Loose ($1.99), which is currently on sale for $0.99, and worth checking out for grappling hook fans.

This game has you controlling a robot that can propel itself off of hard surfaces, and use a limited number of beams – a.k.a. grappling hooks – in order to navigate the sixty-plus levels and make it to the exit as quickly as possible. Our Shaun Musgrave praised the game in his review, saying “I think what makes Volt worthy of your attention are the excellent level designs. Volt‘s toolset never opens up in any meaningful way, but through the additions of new level elements, you’re constantly using those same moves to do new things. It’s a very organic way to increase the complexity and challenge of a game, and it’s probably Volt‘s biggest strength." Have at it, folks.
