The predictable post-iTunes freeze cycle of the App Store is upon us. Everyone has jockeyed for position post-freeze, and here we are looking ahead to a bleak week of news and game releases. Jet Car Stunts 2 appears to be among the first huge games to hit pre-thaw, with a launch date of January 2nd, and I couldn’t be more excited. The original Jet Car Stunts ($1.99) is a really crazy game, and I expect the sequel to be even more nuts.
What’s so interesting about the Jet Car Stunts series is that you look at them and think, “Oh, alright, so there’s a track and a race car, this is a racing game." The catch is, it’s anything but- It’s more of a puzzle platformer with a racer skin on top. Completing tracks is more a matter of solving where to go, when to use boost, and things like that. It sounds like there’s going to be a pretty agreeable IAP-based payment model too.
Stay tuned for January 2nd, I’m sure we’ll do tons of coverage for this game as the original was every bit of an iOS classic.
