The massively popular, “life-ruiningly fun" The Simpsons: Tapped Out (Free) iOS game continues its near-monthly tradition of updates, this time with a Christmas update full of holiday goodies. Let’s jump right into what’s new. First off, presents and gift bags can now be found spread around Springfield offering goodies with a tap, and you can collect spin tokens to take a shot at winning even more prizes in Krusty’s Non-Denominational Holiday Giveaway. There’s some new holiday characters, like Ebenezer Burns, Mr. Costington of Costington’s Department Store fame, and Barney as the infamous Plow King. There’s new buildings too, like Springfield Mall filled with holiday shoppers, the Helter Shelter homeless facility, an Egg Nog Bar, and loads of Christmas decorations from ClausCo. Finally, you can now build the Happy Elves ride at Krustyland, you know, for kids. The Christmas update includes a new quest storyline to play through too, which sees Springfield residents rolling in the virtual cash of gift cards due to a clerical error. How come stuff like that never happens to me?
Personally, I’ve tried several times to get into The Simpsons: Tapped Out to no avail. The free-to-play elements really ruin it for me, which is a shame as I’m a huge Simpsons nut and the fan service in this game is fantastic. I’m sure others feel the same as I do, however, there are many, many, many thousands of people who do enjoy Tapped Out for what it is, and for those people, the folks behind the game have done a wonderful job updating and maintaining the game since release. If you’re among those who can’t get enough of The Simpsons: Tapped Out, head on over to the App Store and grab this latest holiday update.
