Gaijin Games has announced that the sequel to their popular rhythm runner Bit.Trip Runner will be heading to the iOS platform later this year, Cult of Mac reports. Officially titled Bit.Trip Presents Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, or just Runner2 for sake of all our sanity, the game launched earlier this year on console digital storefronts and desktop computers. It was generally well-received by press and gamers alike, despite its graphical change from 8-bit style into the world of polygons. Check out the official trailer from previous releases of Runner2.
While iOS is no stranger to runners, not by a long shot in fact, I’m still extremely excited to get my hands on Bit.Trip Runner 2. Speaking to Cult of Mac at PAX over the weekend, the lead designer of the iOS version spoke to how the game needed to be adjusted for touchscreen controls. “Touchscreens aren’t as responsive as buttons,” he said, “so we needed to go back and rethink the whole game, level by level, to make it work for iOS.”
Besides reworked controls, Runner2 should have as much of the unlockable levels and characters as its older siblings. Pricing has yet to be determined, but keep an eye out for Bit.Trip Runner 2 to land in the App Store sometime this winter.
