John Woo’s ‘Bloodstroke’ Heading to Mobile Courtesy of Chillingo

Famed action movie director John Woo is working on a new iOS game with developer Moon Shark and being published by Chillingo, AppAdvice reports. The game is called Bloodstroke and it’s an “on-rails" top-down action game that will lead you through stark black and white environments as you escort and protect your employer from harm. Escort missions can be pretty hit and miss in games, so it’s interesting to see how a game entirely based around them will turn out. Appgefahren.de has some hands-on video of Bloodstroke taken at Gamescom which gives you a great idea of what the game is like.

I really like the Sin City-ish black-and-white-and-sometimes-color visual style of Bloodstroke, and the action seems like it could be pretty entertaining. The ability to pay currency to continue your game throws up a red flag for me, but we’ll have to wait and see how that’s handled. They do mention in the video that Bloodstroke will be a paid game, so who knows. There will also be an upgrade system for your character and a bunch of cool weapons to use, as well as 30 story-driven campaign levels along with an arena mode. Bloodstroke should hit sometime this year and we’ll be sure to bring you more news as it hits.
