Two new job postings recently appeared on Riot’s careers page for both Android and iOS developers. Digging a bit deeper into the listing reveals that Riot is looking for developers to “join a SWAT team of mobile developers and designers on a mission to help players engage with the world around League of Legends anytime and anywhere, even if they’re not sitting in front of a computer."
When we’re not playing iOS games, we’re hugely involved in just generally being pretty terrible at League of Legends, and if you listen to our podcast you’d have heard us discuss how little sense it makes that Riot hasn’t released some kind of “official" app with how many janky totally unofficial utilities there are on the App Store.
If you’re unfamiliar with League of Legends, it’s a Mac and PC multiplayer online battle arena that’s totally free to play. Additionally, it’s the most played video game in the world right now and Brad and I can’t get enough of it. If you want to play with us, download the client and add both “Douche Chills" and “bmuscles" to your friends list.
Anyway, since these mobile apps are still in the “looking to hire people to actually build them" phase, or so it would seem, we don’t expect anything soon. However, it is pretty cool to see Riot actively putting some effort in the iOS world.
