White Whale Games’s pulp fantasy-inspired game God of Blades (Free) has inspired the release of an actual pulp fantasy book set firmly in the game’s universe. Available today on iTunes for $2.99, “God of Blades: Hand of the Sable King" is an introduction to the Nameless King and a kick-off to a trilogy of books that’ll fill you in on his early life (as an actual named dude, no less). We’ve spent a couple of post-GDC moments with the book so far and can definitely confirm that writer Greg Moller has put lotsa words in it.
In celebration of this release, God of Blades will receive a new sword later today in an update. It’s called Hallow and it should be available pretty soon.
This is a pretty neat thing. God of Blades celebrates fiction, both mechanically and with its themes and tone and even presentation, so the release of an actual book feels natural. We’re excited to start really diggin in.
