Standalone Heroes of Might and Magic game, Ubisoft? Pleeeeaaaase!

Gave this a decent try for about 30 mins earlier. Awful.
The UI isn't tailored for the iPad. Sluggish performance on WiFi and the odd popups of dialogs and prompts with hard to notice icons to interact with spoilt the experience.
There will definitely be fanboys who love it, but it feels like a sluggish browser game designed for a desktop screen and mouse, not for touch interaction.

Good job its free and a small download.

    It is not working.

If you don't allow it to "automatically" publish on your facebook, you can't even use it to log in. I created an Ubisoft account instead, but it simply showed "Page not found" after that....

How do you create an international account?

I wonder why this was initially marketed to Europe? Especially when the US already has the iPad?

It looks fun, but that exclusion is somewhat annoying.

The article doesn't mention that while it is free to play, it does have a subscription model for advanced features. You do not however buy actual items though.

Just for the ones who ask: Heroes is already available for the iPhone, it's called Palm Heroes, and it's awesome, check it out.

As for Heroes Kingdom though, it doesn't seem that great. Will probably give it a try, you never know.

Palm Heroes is a cheap rip-off. If you truly want a HoMM game, try fHeroes2. (Jailbroken iDevice required, but still, it's a COMPLETE HoMM2!)

Heroes 2 in its current state is extremely buggy and has a horrible UI, and not worth the buy unless many drastic changes are made.
As it is, Palm Heroes is the best HoMM alternative, even though it is not as good looking (IMO), is a simplified version and lacks many features that are a big part of the Heroes experience (eg. no upgradeable units!!). Controls take some getting used to, but is quite deep when you do - it has been in developed for a while now for WinMobile PDAs so is free of some very basic flaws that Heroes 2 suffers from.
Thus, unless some big updates are made to Heroes 2, Palm Heroes is still the way to go.
