Turn-Based Strategy Game 'BattleFriends in Tanks' Hits Tonight

Tequila Games' BattleFriends series is leaving the seas for the, uh, land. Tonight will see the release of BattleFriends in Tanks, a 2D turn-based game that tasks players with blowing each other up in a variety of colorful tanks. ..

A long time ago, we ventured out into the darkness of space in an attempt to fix, uh, something in the awesome iPhone simulation game Astronaut Spacewalk [$1.99]. It didn't go so hot. Actually, I'm pretty sure it couldn't go worse. We've been looking for a bit of redemption since and now seems like the perfect time because Spacewalk has, finally, been re-released as an iPad title, complete with new UI and content. The name? Astronaut Spacewalk HD [$1.99 (HD)]...

You know, if you think about it, street racing is all about Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect so I guess it makes sense that WWE is slapping John Cena's beautiful delts and image all over a brand new street racing game...

On this week's episode of The TouchArcade Show, we talk a lot about marketing iPhone and iPad games -- what works, what doesn't, and what gets folks the most excited. Also, just in case you were worried, we do talk about some new games and ill news. Eli discusses an electric shoot-em-up called Abyss Attack and a cool runner named Battle Run. Also, Jared talks up our Game of the Week Mikey Hooks...

It's been a few months, but we're still not quite over the shock that Blizzard is making an iPad game. It doesn't help that Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft looks so rad, either...

If you want more Cut the Rope: Time Travel [$0.99] and Time Travel HD [$0.99 (HD)], now's a good time to mash the update button. ZeptoLab has added a new "Disco Era" set of levels to the puzzler. In these, you'll cut the rope and position disco balls to stop "beams" from zapping all the candy. Sounds like a neat twist on the series' proven formula, which overall, is a thing Time Travel has been doing pretty well...

Gameloft's open-world game, Gangstar Vegas [Free], received some content love the other day via a big, almost "Mad Max" themed update. Specifically, a quest tree under the name "Mojave Apocalypse" was added, bringing in 11 new missions and three new enemies. Jason also got a new suit suitably themed for the post-apocalyptic shenanigans, as well as a new mohawk because mohawks are totally "in" during the end of the world. Everyone knows that...

You Only Live Once: 'Trial By Survival' To Take Perma-Death To Dual-Stick Shooting

Perma-death is a mechanic that you usually only see in rogue-likes, which is a big part of the reason why dual-stick shooter Trial By Survival is kinda blowing our collective hair back. It's uses perma-death, too, except it wraps that mechanic into a high-octane fire, bomb, and bullet-fest across a wasteland. The levels are procedurally generated, and the loot? It's from real players that have died...

Better With Friends: 'Amateur Surgeon 3' Hits Tonight

Amateur Surgeon 3's app description asks an important question: have you ever wanted to operate on a mutant bear with a chainsaw? If you're unfamiliar with the series, I think that should give you a pretty decent idea of what to expect from it. Amateur Surgeon is a whacky, and mostly insane surgery game that tasks users with sawing open patients and removing what ails them ... with bloody tongs. Or with the help of a friendly dog that, somehow, has the power to give your patients health if they start crashing...

A new Madden is probably coming down the pipes from EA, but for the moment, Gameloft has the whole iOS NFL football scene on lock. This morning, the publisher pushed out a giant update to its free-to-play NFL Pro Football app in anticipation of the upcoming 2014 NFL season. Also, it changed the game's name to NFL Pro Football 2014 [Free]...

Flight Unlimited Las Vegas [$2.99] got a big old content update a couple of hours ago, and it's certainly an interesting one. Most notably, missions involving a mob boss were added to the core game, expanding the simulation to include, for example, bombing runs. I had to read that twice before I believed it...

Upcoming 'Tetris Monsters' Seems to Combine 'Tetris' With... 'Pokemon'?

Whoa, whoa, guys: I've got a great idea. What if I made a game that combined Tetris with monster collecting and battling? Like, the game would take place across dungeons and the actual matching part would give your little monsters buffs, raising their attack speed and stuff. It'd basically be like Puzzles and Dragons [Free], except with Tetris...

This week on The TouchArcade Show, we spend a lot of our time talking about the latest, greatest, and sickest in iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. No, for real! At the top, we dig into Temple Run 2's latest edition, Usain Bolt. Much later, we talk about the success of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and what that means for "premium" games, the reveal of Simogo's next big thing, and a few other notable gems. Rymdkapsel, Pivvot, and Knightmare Tower round out our games section for the week...

Rymdkapsel [$3.99] is a tremendous game that brilliantly distills what RTS is all about: making a great base with an eye towards a big picture objective. But, even though it's a super breezy game to play, it isn't without its difficulties. Beating all three of the game's objectives requires attention to detail and a methodical play style that takes account of how your minions move about your base and what monolith gives you the best abilities at the time you need it the most. Also, you'll need a little speed on your side, too...
