So Warhammer Quest [$4.99] finally hit the App Store last week. At least, I think it was last week, based on my glimpses of the outside world when I've been able to tear myself away from my iPhone screen long enough to take a look. If, like the rest of us, you've been getting a hefty dose of retro role-playing goodness, you might've noticed that it doesn't hold your hand. In fact, it slaps it away. You have questions: what's the difference between an accessory and a consumable? What does pinning do? Just what does the Lucky Rabbit's Head do, anyway?..

I can't be the only person who's totally sick of zombies. Our media is absolutely saturated with them. When zombies start showing up in Call of Duty, you know they're played out. Faced with this dilemma, Developers Game Whizzes decided to move one spot down on the list of "things that go bump in the night," and employ vampires in their side-scrolling action game, Fangz [$2.99 / $2.99]. It's this one little twist on the genre that gives Fangz just enough legs to save it from being a carbon copy of the Zombieville USA series...

Oh, to be a ninja. With rooftops to run along, shurikens to chuck, and warlords to be dispatched, what's not to like? This was my thought process as I downloaded Ninja Wrath [$0.99]. As it turns out I would have plenty of time to consider this question. My conclusion? Being a ninja isn't all it's cracked up to be; at least, not in the world of Ninja Wrath, where the steepest castle walls have nothing on even steeper paywalls...

'Sid Meier's Ace Patrol' Review - The Legendary Designer Delivers with this WWI Dogfighting Sim

The introduction of airplanes changed the face of warfare. The same could be said of Firaxis' entry to the iOS gaming scene: when a Triple-A studio headed by the cherished game designer Sid Meier starts putting out iOS exclusives, you just know things are never going to be the same. Only, instead of bringing about unparalleled death and destruction, this watershed moment marks a new era of quality mobile gaming...

A tiny world unfurls across your iPhone screen: the surface of a tranquil pond, where water beetles swim about, tadpoles wriggle to and fro, and turtles laze atop drifting waterlilies. But do not be deceived, beneath this soothing surface lies a cruel, Darwinian realm, where you must guide the tastiest of the Tasty Tadpoles [$0.99] as he attempts to eek out an existence...

Kingturn RPG [Free] ain't a looker. That was my first reaction to the game, as I suspect it will be yours. But for fans of tactics style turn-based RPGs such as myself, pickings are slim on iOS, so I gave the game a shot. I'm glad I did. Underneath the hood of this old beater lies a beautiful, well-oiled machine, and it won't cost you a penny to take a look for yourself...
