Today is a good day for Capcom news. After updating Ghost Trick for iOS 11 and iPhone X, Capcom has a big spring sale on for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise has been across multiple systems over the years. I got into the franchise on the 3DS but always wanted to play the older games as well. When Monster Hunter Freedom Unite [$14.99] released on iOS, it was a no brainer purchase. It is now down to just $3.99 from $14.99 on the App Store which is 74% off and the historic lowest price for this game. It is also a fully premium release with no hidden costs or in app purchases. Freedom Unite is actually an enhanced and expanded release to Monster Hunter Freedom 2 which was based on the second mainline Monster Hunter game that never released outside Japan. Watch the trailer for the iOS release below:

The iOS version was broken for a bit but Capcom actually went and fixed all the issues. I’ve been playing it quite a bit outside the house because the last few weeks have been a Monster Hunter blur for me with the amount of time I’ve put into Monster Hunter: World. It has been fun revisiting older entries in a franchise I love.

If you’ve been seeing everyone talk about Monster Hunter: World but wanted to check out the franchise on a portable, this is your cheapest option. Read our review for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS here and check out the forum thread here. Hopefully Capcom releases another Monster Hunter game on iOS at some point or even localizes the currently Japan only Monster Hunter Stories.

Totally agreeing with you guys. Capcom doesnt ‘clean house’ or upgrade said house if they dont release something BUT im crossing my finges that at least stories gets put out. I played the free portion and, man, if you want monster hunter mashed with pokemon then this is it

Such an amazing game, especially with an MFi controller if you have one, even though surprisingly touch screen controls work quite good (on a phone that is)

To me its the second best game this franchise had to offer before World, 4u being the best one, but I still prefer Freedom Unite on the ipad since I like to play solo a but more and 4u has such a big emphasis on multiplayer...

Anyway, at this price Capcom is literaly asking you to rob them, do it ! 😊

I also highly recommend this one! Personally, I've sunk so many worth-while hours into MHFU. And recently, I've also put some time into the Japanese version of Monster Hunter Stories... and I also REALLY hope Capcom can eventually bring that one over here on the App Store. I'm sure Nintendo has a say in it (just like Dragon Quest VII). Hopefully, whatever contract they have will expire soon. Because I'd totally buy MHS again just to be able to actually read the menus and story.

Here's hoping that this gem may be saved from iOS 11 incompatibility issues!

Wait what? I just bought it and am on 11.

The app description explicitly says that this is compatible up to iOS 10.2. If anything, MHFU has no official support for iOS 11.

What is this app description you speak of?? 😛 Oh well, at least it was dirt cheap.

Anyone tried it on iOS 11?

      • halomac

Yep. Works without any problems. I'm 4 hours in, playing with MFI gamepad.
