One of the weird things about the freemium side of Arena of Valor [Free] is that (currently) there's a daily gold cap. In our region of North America, without any gold doubling hijinks, the most gold you can earn in any given day is 750. Gold allows you to do important things like buy Arcana and can be used as a substitute for buying heroes with real money (which I don't really recommend until you've got a full set of level III arcana). The problem with this setup is that it's a significant time investment every day to maximize your daily gold earning potential. If you miss out on playing one day, you missed out on that gold cap.

Along side the next update, which also includes iPhone X support, the daily cap is getting shifted to a weekly cap. In the update, instead of being capped at 750g per day, you're capped at 5,250g per week. It's a fantastic change, as usually I've got time to hammer out tons of games on a Saturday, but maybe not every day of the week.

If you're not sure what the fuss is all about with Arena of Valor, take a look at our review. From there, if you want to get involved but don't really know a ton about MOBAs, head over to our guide. When I have time I've been writing all sorts of stuff to teach new players how the game works. It's still in process, but it'll get you a long way to being a better player.

In and of itself that is a good thing, but it's NOT a fantastic change if it is true that gold doublers will no longer break the cap. That's obviously a dramatic reduction in gold accumulation in a week. Arcana will take forever to collect versus the ~1 per day I am achieving now.

I sort of suspect gold doublers increasing the cap might have been an oversight.

I'd be surprised since that is a fundamental economic mechanic, but, either way, quite the throttling coming.

Its a bit ridiculous though.... i mean theres no point in getting 2x gold if the cap stays the same :/

  • Milotorou

I just hope the daily rewards can still be obtained the same way, thats what makes me play a bit daily (the 6 games required for 4 different rewards in gold and exp)

    • HouseofG

Yes and, if so, I assume that would still be over and above the cap.

      • Milotorou

It better be... else the gold income would be disgustingly low

While I love Arena of Valor, kinda curious why Mobile Legends didn't get any press here when it's essentially the exact same game that's been in the app store for years? Just curious.

Because gameplay-wise mobile legends is a mess.

On top of that its super pay to win (skins give stats boost, runepages are made to be p2w since you can buy pregame buffs for real money)

Without forgetting that the engine runs terribly.

Is it a mess? I haven't played it for awhile, but there was a time when I played every day and Arena of Valor feels pretty much identical, almost to the point that it could be the same engine....almost.

I guess I never knew about the pregame buffs. Maybe they just recently added those or something. The skins never bothered me because they only gave like +9 dmg which wasn't that big of a deal.

I am a big moba fan and played both quite a lot by now.

Arena of Valor feels way more fluid, try both one after another and youll immediately notice.

I also find AoV's balance to be much better, MobileLegends isnt made by veterans like AoV is and it shows

Fair enough. I guess before Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends was quite good and was the moba game to play, yet it never ever was mentioned here. That's just what I was curious about.
