Jam City and Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment have just announced a new official Harry Potter mobile game. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will see a release next year and it will be published under Portkey Games. This is a new label under Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment for gaming media related to the Harry Potter franchise. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will let you create your own avatar and experience life as a student at Hogwarts. Hogwarts Mystery will be a story driven RPG letting you partake in the usual fare for a Hogwarts student with magic classes and more.

Iconic professors from the Harry Potter franchise will reprise their roles in Hogwarts Mystery as well. Scheduled to release in 2018 on the App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will be the first game under Warner Brothers’ new label and I’m curious to see how they build upon it. The official website is now live and you can check out it here. If you are interested in it, you can now pre-register on the same website. No details are available right now for what you get by pre-registering.

Hmm, they list Marvel's Avenger Academy in their resume. I loved a lot of things about that game, but did not like the absolutely ridiculous pricing model and its need for players to essentially schedule their lives around it.

I fear we'll end up seeing a free-to-play, IAP-filled, clone of many other grindy "RPGs." I really want a premium experience that is more third-person, but bet it will end up being more like Avenger Academy, which doesn't appeal to me at all despite loving Marvel.

Agreed. I tried Avenger Academy and yes, I don’t have the time to let a game control my life like that.
