It's the most wonderful time of the year, children. And no, it's not Christmas, it's Halloween, of course. As is always the case, Blizzard is celebrating the season in Hearthstone [Free], so, appropriately, we are getting a new hero, the Warlock Nemsy Necrofizzle. This cosmetic hero looks really cool, and really tiny, and should make playing Warlock more fun. There's a catch, though: you can't get Nemsy unless you organize or attend a Fireside Gathering Tavern. Hosting a Fireside Gathering is pretty easy; all you need is three more unique patrons (you can find all the instructions on how to organize or attend one here). As is obvious with how heroes have been distributed so far, Blizzard continues to use them as ways to advertise various aspects of the game. Today it's Fireside Gatherings, a few months back it was Twitch streaming.

In addition to the Nemsy news, we also got to hear more about Hearthstone's Halloween plans, or more like didn't hear about the plans. Even though Blizzard provided info on Halloween events for all of its other games, it left the Hearthstone part vague, which is quite unusual. Hearthstone's Hallow's End at the Inn event, which is coming later this month, will include a special Arena event and different decorations, but no more details are included. Similarly, BlizzCon's in-game goodies are listed for all games except Hearthstone; that game is getting a "Mystery Goody—Coming Soon." Why all the secrecy? Well, perhaps Blizzard is planning something expansion-related, since the new expansion will be announced November 3rd. If that's the case, then I'm looking forward to being surprised and (since it's Halloween) spooked.
