‘Hearthstone’ Balance Patch Coming Sept. 18th – Takes Out Innervate, Fiery War Axe, and More

TouchArcade Rating:

A few days ago, Blizzard announced the upcoming Hearthstone (Free) nerfs that the developers hope will tame the meta a bit and bring a semblance of balance that will encourage more interesting decks and, at the very least, the inclusion of newer cards over basic ones. Now we know when the nerfs will occur: September 18th. What nerfs are we getting? The first victim of the nerf hammer is Innervate, the card that I’ve seen way too many times in my time with Hearthstone and would be happy never to see again (or at most see in very specific decks). Innervate gives you 1 Mana Crystal this turn, down from the original 2. Fiery War Axe’s cost is going up from 2 to 3, a change that has been met with despair from Warrior players who feel this nerf will cripple the whole class. Hex will now cost 4 mana instead of 3, Murloc Warleader will not give +1 Health anymore but only +2 Attack, and Spreading Plague will cost 6 mana, up from 5.

These are pretty hefty changes that should impact the meta significantly, although it’s always hard to tell what the exact effect will be before the nerfs actually happen. Once the patch drops, you will be able to disenchant any non-Basic Cards (which only leaves Murloc Warleader and Spreading Plague) for full Arcane Dust value for two weeks after the patch. What do you think of the nerfs now that you’ve had some time to mull them over? Happy?
