‘Pokemon GO’ Global Events Will Push Players to Work Together

TouchArcade Rating:

Pokemon GO (Free) continues to grow both in terms of features and in terms of opportunities to play the game with others in public, and today the developer unveiled some more information about Pokemon GO Fest Chicago and Safari Zone events and an emphasis on players working together. Specifically, on July 22nd players in Chicago’s Grant Park will be able to participate in three Challenge Window activities, which require players to work together to catch certain types of Pokemon. During that time, players outside of Chicago can also participate in the event by catching as many Pokemon as possible during the Challenge Windows to increases the bonuses unlocked by those at the Fest. If players around the world catch enough Pokemon, a mystery challenge will be revealed at the Chicago Fest, and that one will have the potential to unlock an even bigger bonus for players across the world.

In addition to the Chicago event, there will also be events in Europe during Pokemon GO Safari Zone running on August 5th, August 12th, and September 16th. During these events, players will have the opportunity to catch a variety of Pokemon from special Kanto- and Johto-region zones, including Pokemon never before seen in Europe. And European players will have the opportunity to team up and take on powerful Raid bosses. You can see the Safari Zone cities here. I think it’s a great idea to have events where those present can in a way cooperate with other players for a common purpose; it’s a great way to get players even more excited about the events and the game.
