You Can Now Pre-Register for ‘Robot Unicorn Attack 3’ on Android, Global iOS Release Coming Soon?

We’re huge fans of everything Adult Swim does, and I really think you could make a strong argument that the Robot Unicorn from the Robot Unicorn Attack series of games is Adult Swim’s Mario. The series is fantastic, and it doesn’t really matter which of the games you’re playing as long as you’re playing them. Robot Unicorn Attack ($0.99) is the original, followed by Robot Unicorn Attack 2 (Free), and there’s also two pseudo-sequel spinoffs Robot Unicorn Attack Heavy Metal Edition ($0.99) and the holiday-themed Robot Unicorn Attack Christmas Edition ($0.99). The gameplay is great, the premise is absurd, and Erasure’s Always elevates the whole thing to a new level.

We’ve been covering Robot Unicorn Attack 3 for quite a while now, with the latest news surrounding some significant enhancements to how much battery the game uses. Part of the magic of RUA3 is the game’s brand spankin’ new 3D graphics which are powered by the Unreal engine, which is quite a battery drainer. Things have gotten better, and it sounds like Adult Swim hopes to do further optimizations. Anyway, today’s news has to do with the game now being available to pre-register for on Google Play.

If this is the first you’ve heard of the pre-registration system (because you’re on the iOS side of the fence, or whatever) it’s real cool how it works out. Basically, you click pre-register, the icon appears on your phone, then it automatically downloads when the game is released. It’s a cool system, and seems way better than the clunky alert system Apple built for Mario Run. Adult Swim is playing their cards close to the chest on when RUA3 will actually be released, but judging by how similar soft launches has gone, it seems very safe to assume we’ll likely be playing the global release of the game sometime inside of the next few weeks.
