Capcom is about to do older gamers a huge one by bringing some really classic games to mobile in the next few months. The games are 1942 Mobile, Ghosts 'N Goblins Mobile, Ghouls 'N Ghosts Mobile, and Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando Mobile. Talk about game titles that take me back decades. The ports will stay true to the original games but also offer the option to switch to more touch-screen friendly modes. And while the games will come with Classic and Casual modes, several of them will offer options such as auto-fire and button customization. The games will also include leaderboards, which is appropriate.

If you aren't familiar with one or all of the games, well, it means you're pretty young. 1942 is a vertical shoot 'em up that has you destroying a whole fleet while doing rolls and loops to avoid incoming fire. Ghosts 'N Goblins - one of my all-time favorites - is an action-platformer that has you battling demons and the undead, often in your underwear, and Ghouls 'N Ghosts is the sequel to Ghosts 'N Goblins. Finally, Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando is a vertical scrolling shooter where you use your sub-machine gun and grenades to blast through everything in sight. All four are classic games that I think will translate well to mobile. The games will be coming in the next few months, and I can't wait.

Cool! Thanks for the heads up Tasos. Glad that as you mentioned they will stay true to the originals. Lets hope that means they will be better than the megaman ports 🙂

      All fingers crossed 🙂

Yea I'll remain skeptical after they dropped the ball with mega man.

I was like, "Ghosts n Goblins!"
      Then I was like, "capcom......."
      What a roller coaster.

    • OrangutanKungfu

That was my first thought, too. However, let's hope it's the MHFU, Phoenix Wright and Ghost Trick standard of Capcom that puts this together, rather than the Mega Man hatchet boys. Capcom can also do mobile as well as anyone.

Agree on not being like MegaMan. The G&G games were brutally difficult back in the day. I wonder if they'll have difficulty settings; while I don't mind the difficulty there has been a definite trend toward "dumbing down" the difficulty over the last two decades. I'll be buying the first G&G, regardless. Proudest moment of my childhood was beating that game.

    • DotComCTO

The G&G games were definitely difficult..and that was with a controller. I can't imagine playing this on a touch screen!

  • CrazyCanuck

Ghouls 'N Ghosts? I will pay up to $9.99 for that on mobile.

When did they remove the other Ghosts 'n Goblins from the App Store?! I found an article on TA that shows it was released in 2009. I thought they had released one. Anyway, can't find it on there now. So, hope this one lasts longer.

There were two Ghosts n Goblins games that came out on iOS way back in the day (can't remember what the 2nd one was called as I removed them from my purchase history some time ago). They were "remakes" so the graphics were not 8 bit art but were made of simple polygons... Think of a generic PS1 era 2D platform game. Neither game was particularly good, and really I don't think Ghosts n Goblins is suited for mobile, can't see it working well on a touchscreen and hardly anyone owns an iOS controller so it won't be fun. Also it just doesn't have a big enough fanbase to make a premium 9.99 port worthwhile so we'll end up with a messy cheap port

Yup, GnG is going to require a controller, unless they work some serious magic. I beat this on NES back in the day and it is brutality incarnate.

  • Booch138

Demons Crest or GTFO. Would easily pay for that game for the millionth time to be released on iOS even though I have it on my 3DS. Good games here!

  • Matthew

I know most of us are geeking out over G&G, but I can't wait for 1942 and Commando myself!

'42 ate so many of my quarters!!

  • David Pomerleau

Ghosts and Goblins is extremely difficult for me to play. I played NES in the 80's but damn if I haven't gotten worse big time.

  • Nathaniel Larkin

I hate to be pessimistic, but after seeing how well the Mega Man (MOBILE) games ported to the App Store, I don't have a lot of faith in these. Capcom needs to right their wrongs before providing more wrongs...

  • Samhain666

OMG you can barely get through GNG with regular controls. I can't wait to see how poorly they do this. I love all these games but I don't trust them to do them justice. I really hope they do it right this time and I'm happy to pay premium if they put premium effort into the ports. Every time I see a MegaMan update I hope that they fix it, but still nothing. At least Apple refunded the money I spent on it.

  • Jake7905

    Mega Man. Enough said.

  • Gurney Halleck

Sweet as!! 🤓🤓 here's hoping they port well!

  • Wizard of Odyssey

I feel like these were released several years ago under Capcom Arcade. How do we know these won't be abandoned after the next iOS update like so many other Capcom mobile games?

  • EZ Ice

Yeah, those classics were all about the controller doing exactly what you want, when you want. There have only been a handfull of mobile games with good Touch screen controls.

  • Saul Martinez

Call me excited for GNG... but coming from the same team that gave us mega man mobile, I am not sure. Give us amazing frame rate and responsive controller support and I am sold.
