The Radiant ‘Robot Unicorn Attack 3’ Receiving Update With Unicorn Backstories and Performance Enhancements

A couple of weeks ago, we brought you news that the third entry in the eccentric but essential Robot Unicorn Attack series soft launched on the App Store. In keeping with the precedent set by the previous platforming action Adult Swim brought to the App Store many moons ago, the latest title was a whole lot of fun to play – but being a soft launch meant many were asking when the game’s global launch would take place, and how different the final release would be to the rather excellent version those in New Zealand were playing right now. While the former question still seems to be up in the air, the developers are extremely active on our forum thread to respond to any questions from Robot Unicorn enthusiasts, and have outlined some neat details on the forthcoming content update for Robot Unicorn Attack 3.

While the update on the way for Robot Unicorn Attack 3 doesn’t appear to be anything revolutionary – the game is still in soft launch, after all – it does appear to address some of the more minor issues that a few have encountered, as well as flesh out the title in a manner reminiscent of many other titles that have launched in a similarly staggered way. A particularly neat addition is the inclusion of backstories for each of the unicorns, which can be accessible from the Unidex in the Stable. While the game already possesses a copious amount of charm, it’s nice to see the unicorns given their own character, and not simply left as the cold-hearted robotic beings they technically are.

Performance improvements, updates to the game’s UI, a Tearstone Doubler option on the results screen, improved background graphics, and a whole host of small fixes that further streamline the experience are certainly welcome, and culminate in a title which is as compulsively fun as it was when the first Robot Unicorn Attack launched in 2010, but also one that is finally up to date with the technological advancements and monetisation shifts of the 2017 App Store. With this newest update only having a ‘pretty soon’ release date, be sure to keep an eye on our forum thread for any further details, and download Robot Unicorn Attack 3 from the New Zealand, Australia, Canada, or Brazil App Stores now (or use our soft launch guide if you’re outside of these regions).
