While we usually hear a bunch from the fine folks at Noodlecake Games, purveyors of fine mobile games both original, published by them, and ported to Android. Well, they just dropped a release they've been keeping a secret from us: they're bringing realMyst [$6.99] to Android at last. One of the most popular point-and-click adventure games of all time has been missing on Android in official form. This 3D take on Cyan Worlds' classic has you exploring a mysterious island and trying to discover the secrets contained within, traveling across time to the different Myst Ages, including the bonus Rime Age.

While the original game befuddled and bedeviled players, there's plenty of online information to help you out now, along with the realMyst Hint Guide contained in the app to help you out when you're stumped. It'll be interesting to see if Riven also comes to Android as well, with an iOS version available. A nice surprise release that they apparently had to keep secret, and a big step up for the fine folks at Noodlecake Games. You can check out realMyst on Google Play and Amazon Appstore right now.

How is this on iOS? Would anyone recommend it for someone who enjoyed the Room series?

It's good, but Myst is a significantly more obtuse puzzle game... Which might be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you liked about The Room. If you beat Myst on your first play through without looking up hints or a walkthrough online, you're pretty hardcore.

Obtuse is the best word for Myst. Keep a pen and paper handy, you should be fine. Realmyst does tend to push the obtuse to obscene levels however, mainly due to the freedom of movement offered. With the original point and click interface, it was a little easier to understand exactly what to do.

12-year-old me bailed on Myst very early when one puzzle required reading music to figure out the answer.

Me too haha! Same age. I should try it again with adult eyes.

I can confirm that Riven is coming as well. Should be early March.
