Amazon Announces Champions of Fire Invitational Mobile eSports Tournament with ‘Disney Crossy Road’ and More

When it comes to mobile and any mention of eSports, generally, the game that usually comes up is a MOBA of some sort. But Amazon’s trying something a bit out of the ordinary for mobile gaming competition: the Champions of Fire Invitational. This tournament will take place in Las Vegas on December 2nd, and feature several games not typically mentioned when mobile eSports is talked about. Sixteen streamers and gaming personalities including Northernlion, Professor Broman, and lolRenaynay (ain’t gaming great?) will compete in single-elimination tournaments for $100,000 in total prizes across five different games: Disney Crossy Road, Pac-Man 256, Bloons TD Battles, 8 Ball Pool, and Fruit Ninja Tournament Edition.

There will be free tickets for those wishing to attend at the Paris Las Vegas on December 2nd. The event will be livestreamed via Twitch, and a recap show will happen on December 12th from 7-9pm Pacific on CBS Sports Network. This is an interesting event, for sure – mobile competitive gaming is so centered around traditional games scaled to mobile, and the unique titles on mobile maybe get the short shrift. Not here, this is a contest all about the mobile games that everyday players play. Will it work as a compelling event for Amazon? We’ll see on the 2nd.
