‘unWorded’ is an Incredibly Clever Puzzle Game that Uses Words as Pieces, Launching Next Thursday

If I told you I was going to show you a trailer for a hot new upcoming word game for mobile, your reaction might be “Snore!" Well, as its name implies, unWorded from Bento Studio isn’t so much a “word game" as it is a game that uses words, and uses them in incredibly clever and unexpected ways. The story revolves around an author who is hospitalized after a serious accident. With his wife by his bedside she reads to him his very own works, and through that you’ll “dive into his mind, sharing his last thoughts as he reminisce about his life and work, standing with him at the death’s door." Gameplay-wise, this means you’ll be arranging letters on the screen in order to create pictures which will recount the man’s life. Check out the intriguing trailer for unWorded.

If you’re worried that you’ll be lost trying to fit a bunch of letters together to try and create who knows what kind of object, the solution to each picture is actually hinted at with the text that precedes it. This isn’t a word game, but a puzzle game, and reminds me a bit of games like Shadowmatic ($3.99) or Blueprint 3D ($0.99) where you have to manipulate something that doesn’t resemble anything until it finally clicks into place and very clearly resembles a known object. unWorded seems extremely cool, and you can look forward to playing it next week when it launches on November 17th.
