‘Grumpy Cat – Ready, Set, NO’ Takes the Minigames From WarioWare and Adds Furious Felines, Coming Soon

Cats are one of my favourite things in the world. WarioWare is also one of my favorite video games, ever since WarioWare Twisted predicted the era of gyroscopic motion controls and how stupid you’d look tilting your Game Boy Advance SP in a whole host of weird and wacky challenges. Therefore combining both of these things will almost certainly get my attention, and that’s what Lucky Kat Studios have done in their upcoming release. Grumpy Cat – Ready, Set, NO, based off the eponymous feline viral internet sensation, is a collection of mini games featuring everyone’s least amicable pet. With some beautiful pixel art graphics coupled with a wide variety of games to try, the Grumpy Cat game should be a whole lot of fun when it launches later in the holiday season – however, the developers are also looking for beta testers on our forums if such a long wait makes you grumpy too.

In Grumpy Cat – Ready, Set, NO, the developers have included over 60 ‘awful’ mini games starring the protagonist (or is it antagonist?), which vary from catching falling glasses, flipping burgers and even magic tricks. The WarioWare inspiration is ashamedly worn on the game’s sleeve, with Lucky Kat Studios citing it as a specific inspiration for the title, and so while it may not be the most unique game out there, Grumpy Cat – Ready, Set, NO will help fill a specific void of eclectic and fast paced micro game collections that is surprisingly scarce on the App Store. Plus, the humor from the irritable nature of the cat is cleverly incorporated into the game, and doesn’t appear to rely on the limited appeal of meme culture as a whole. If you’re interested in trying out the Grumpy Cat game, swing by the forum thread and sign up for the beta testing phase before its launch as a free-to-play title in December.
