The original Toon Shooters (Free) came out back in 2012 and was a cute, side-scrolling shooter that was more about destroying everything in sight rather than emphasizing accuracy and frequent deaths. If you enjoyed the original, you’re in luck because the developers have just announced in our forums that they are making a sequel called Toon Shooters 2: The Freelancers. They’re hoping to use all the lessons they’ve learned from the original (and from other games they’ve made) to make the sequel much better than the original.

Toon Shooters 2 will have 10 stages with 12 bosses as well as 6 characters and 8 pets (so many games have pets now, not that I’m complaining). The most fun feature of Toon Shooters 2 will be 4-player co-op, which looks fantastic judging from the trailer above. And the visuals continue to look cartoony, in a nice way.
