You might most recognize Donut Games’ name from their many casual arcade-style games with their distinctive art style, but the studio really made a mark back in 2014 with Traps n’ Gemstones ($4.99). That was a great Metroidvania-esque puzzle-platformer that played a lot differently from other games in the genre. It’s still well worth checking out! The good news is that Donut Games is returning to the adventure-platformer well with, well…they’re not saying the name yet. But Donut Games is dropping some screenshots and saying that pending Apple approvals, their untitled platformer could release on or around September 21st. Hmm.
Donut Games themselves describe it as “it will be more of an explorer game than a Mario-type platformer. You start on an island that you get to explore freely, speak to people you meet, gather items and unlock puzzles. It will be an iPhone / iPad game primarily, not sure about Apple TV just yet." So while it’d be nice to hear a name on this one before release, considering how good Traps n’ Gemstones is, get excited for this.
