Virtual Pet Simulator ‘Tweechi’ Soft Launches in New Zealand with Cool Twitter Integration

For some, there’s nothing more gratifying than posting something on social media that truly takes off. As vain as it almost certainly is, there is a certain joy in seeing something posted on twitter receiving some significant traction and lots of likes or retweets. Thankfully, there is now some justification for this narcissism, as Tweechi – from developers Fuzzy Face Studios – has just soft launched in New Zealand, and the game implements Twitter integration so for every retweet received in real life, you can receive coins to spend within this eccentric looking virtual pet simulator.

While the use of Twitter retweets for coins is a really cool mechanic (especially for any celebrity fans of the game), the developers aren’t simply resting on their laurels and it appears that Tweechi is strong as a standalone virtual pet simulator as well. With slick cartoon-style graphics, the promise of over 600,000 furniture combinations, a flexible day and night cycle that affects the eponymous creature as well as retro Game Boy throwback mini games, any fans of similar apps such as Hatchi (Free) should definitely consider giving Tweechi a look.

While there may be some reservations regarding the customisation and personality of the Tweechi you look after (as while looking cute, it doesn’t appear to be much more than an amorphous blue blob), it is out now in New Zealand for free. If you’d like to try the game out, be sure to read our guide on how to make the most of soft launch releases and remember to share your impressions with Tweechi on our forums.
